It is no secret that a positive leaning environment is necessary for children to do their best. This is important for the development of the student in an academic and social environment. A classroom should be a place where the child should feel comfortable with themselves, having a sense of safety with their peers and most of all being motivated to learn.
The important thing to remember is students don’t learn the same due to different backgrounds and cultures. The Job of the teacher is to find ways to enforce the positive arena overall. The use of rules are not always set out be a bad thing. This in fact can assist with reinforcing a positive atmosphere so students feel significant.
For instants, when asking a question you might want to let the students know the raise their hands and not call out the answer. This brings order and structure to the classroom so that all can feel they have a fair shot at being called on. Another way is to make eye contact with the students. This makes them feel that they are important and you care about what they have to say. If a peer gives a wrong answer to a question, it would be best to always give a positive note before correction. Again, security is the key for children to learn. If they feel singled out it will make them give up and not want to participate. Make sure that each student’s opinion matters. This is done by giving them some choice on how they want to spend the course of their day. By no means are you to give full control, but give them just enough so they feel they have a part in the classroom.
When you apply some of theses rules to a class environment, a positive outcome is pragmatic. Not only will the children will feel empowered, but a teacher will have a stable atmosphere for educating.
